The Girl of Fire and Thorn – Rae Carson book review / rants / discussion

GirfOfFireAndThorns

Overall:  4 out of 5 stars ★★★★

My first Rae Carson’s literature.
Welp, this is her debut’s novel anyway ww

The first half of the story cringe me so much, the father-daughter-family relationship is such a trainwreck of emotion and loneliness.
“It nearly undoes me. In the last day or two, I have had more affection from my father than in the entire year previous.“
U g h , stabs me right through the heart.

It’s soo easy for me to fall in love and connect with each chara’s on this stories from the prologue.

There are a lot of hint for faith to our God in this story. Well, maybe because I’m Christian, I felt it more strong(?) or maybe it’s just me ww
But still, I respect how Rae Carson write Elisa still holding-on on to her faith in any situation, but somehow it felt like she’s ‘blindly’ hold on to the faith ;;w;; not because the love & trust to/from Him… or maybe it’s just me again, everybody interprets this kind of things differently anyway :’)

In every serious situation, suddenly Elisa goes, “Think, Elisa!”
I can’t help but laughing my ass off haha ww
So much for turning off the emotion and thrilling-ness there Elisa ww
I keep imagining Dora and those children’s most favorite heroine in action every time I read that www idekw

The situation between Alejandro and Elisa just can’t be helped. I felt so sad for her, the fact that she did wanna feel ‘wanted’ by someone, especially his husband, even tho it’s a political marriage. Cause who doesn’t want a happy marriage.
He is not a bad dude, but not a great one either ww don’t even make me start on Condesa Arina and him :’)
Both of them have a pretty sad ending in the end, I’m not saying they deserved those kind of end (or maybe Arina, a lil bit?? :”D ) but It’s the best type of end for ‘everyone’. Alejandro die, Elisa became Queen. And Arina, um, ide remember how did she end? :’D I just remember she’s rotting in her room drinking wine. That’s how insignificant and annoying she is to me, tho it’s not entirely her fault, but still it annoys me, the way she choose her way of acts around Elisa.

Elisa is a strong and smart heroine, even when she’s still a princess in the castle, having self-esteem problem, she still survive all of that. And since she’s kidnapped and see how ‘outside’ world works, she became much much more strong, not curling up like a scared kitten thankfully.
That part when some wild crazy people attacked her and Alejandro’s carriage, She actually did KILL a stranger, stranger that threatening the lifes of her people. Whilst Alejandro, the ‘official’ king stand there trembling. Not blaming him tho, Even I feel like I can’t do anything when something vicious like that happened to my group, I only wanna state how brave Elisa is from this moment. She stab him couple times, and it did traumatized her, but I’m so glad she’s recovered from that.
Her smartness helps a lot as a leader, almost like she’s born to be a leader, the way she leads everyone at the village is much splendid.

HUMBERTO
DEMN
HIS DEATH
DO NOT TELL ME YOU GUYS DIDN’T FEEL THOSE DEATH FLAG
WHEN U SUDDENLY REALIZED U LOVED SOMEONE IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION
AND DECIDED TO TELL HIM/HER LATER AFTER ALL OF THIS SHIT ENDS

Sorry for that,
But I just can’t contain my emotion the moment she realized her feelings, and decided to tell him later, or, never ;;w;;
Poor Elisa and Humberto

BUT THANKS(?) TO THAT

Overall, this is such a fun-read, actionpacked, lovable characters, and pretty faced pace for me. It doesn’t bored me..
Thank you much Rae Carson for the wonderful story!
